What did he expect?

EMT's tend to an injured person

Last night I was reading a blog on one of the EMS sites that I subscribe to and I couldn't help but laugh at a blog posted by a civilian. According to what he said, he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle and had "obvious injuries to his groin area" (EMS translation: his genito-urinary area). He went on to say that he was "alarmed" that the EMT's found it necessary to remove his clothing -- including his underwear. Okay, I'll admit, I feel the slightest bit of sympathy for this fellow . . . but how does he expect them to assess - and treat - the injury if they can't see it. Granted, EMT's are a special breed gifted with many talents, however, x-ray vision isn't one of them. But, that wasn't his only complaint. He said that once he was loaded in the ambulance or "bus" as it's called in the trade that two female EMTs proceeded to get in the back of the rig even though he was still naked! (LOL) My advice to him: don't flatter yourself . . . you don't have anything they haven't seen before and to them it's nothing out of the unusual because they see dozens of patients each day (both male and female) disrobed to some degree or the other.

Until next time . . .
